Spock's Beard is super excited to announce that the amazing Nick D'Virgilio has agreed to play on our next album!
Nick of course is well known to SB fans as our former drummer/lead singer/all around awesome dude as well for working with artists such as Genesis, Mike Keneally, Peter Gabriel and Big Big Train among many others. Nick was with us when we first started and we are over the moon to have him back with us for this album! We know you'll be as excited as we are to hear what we will be able to create with him back pounding the skins. We've been writing material and plan to start recording in earnest in late May, so stay tuned!

We regret to announce that Jimmy Keegan has resigned from Spock's Beard to pursue other interests. Jimmy has been a key member of the SB family since 2003, and his unique contribution will be sorely missed. His talents as a drummer and vocalist are world class, unsurpassed. We wish Jimmy well and look forward to what he's going to come up with next - Dude, you're the best!

Spock's Beard will be on tour in Europe in September and October to promote their upcoming album "The Oblivion Particle" which will be released in August. More info about that coming soon!

This will definitely not be your ordinary, boring meet and greet.
PLEASE NOTE: This VIP package is supplementary to your concert ticket. In other words, you still need to purchase a ticket if you want to see the concert.
First, we will make a special tour laminate (VIP pass) for you. You will be able to collect your laminate at the venue during sound check time and use it to be able to hang around during sound check, which is cool, but here's the best part:
You'll have a chance to come up on the stage with us for 10 or 15 minutes after we finish our sound check. We will be up there with you, so you will have the chance to ask us any questions you may have about the band or our gear, find out how we get sounds and see up close how our equipment is set up, get autographs if you'd like, and even have a picture taken of yourself with one of our guitars strapped on, or sitting at Jimmy's drum set, or standing within Ryo's keyboard zone.
Then we'll leave the stage and take you on a brief tour of our tour bus, which will only take a minute or two and is not really that exciting, but if you've never seen a band tour bus it would be interesting to see where we live while on tour. (There may be a venue or two where the bus is parked really far away from the venue (probably Paris, maybe London as well), so in those cases the bus tour will not be available.)

Update on the "Live At Sea" DVD
The DVD currently at the manufacturer and is totally on schedule to start shipping by the end of August.
But. . .here's a little surprise.
Since the audio mix is already done and requires no physical manufacturing since it's a digital download, we thought "Why don't we release that now?". We couldn't think of a reason why not, so we'll be sending out download codes on Friday, Aug 08 for the audio-only version of the concert to everyone who preordered either of the two reward options. So keep an eye on your inbox, and if you don't see it in there check your spam folder.
Keep in mind that this is not the DVD video, it's the audio-only digital download version. (It rocks, by the way.)

The footage is currently in the process of being edited and mixed. An Important Announcement from Spock's Beard:
As you may have already heard, we are going to be doing a couple of shows
in SoCal in August as part of the "Bring the Prog Back" North American
Tour with Sound of Contact and Jolly. We're very excited about it to
say the least!
However, due to personal reasons and schedule conflicts, Ryo Okumoto will not be
performing at these shows.
The remaining t-shirts that we didn't sell on tour are now available here: spocksbeard.online-merchandise.ch - They will be shipped from Switzerland, so shipping charges to EU addresses will be a lot less than if they were shipped from here in the U.S.
We also have some SB stickers, and the Limited Edition of "X" and "Brief Nocturnes and Dreamless Sleep" available there too, so if you live in Europe, this would be the place to order to save money on shipping.
The one big limitation - this is an EU-only merch page...people with addresses outside the EU cannot order. Sorry!!! Maybe if there is enough interest from outside the EU we can press a small batch of tour t-shirts here in the U.S. (Or maybe you know somebody in the EU that can order one for you and then mail it to you.)

THE X TOUR LIVE!
The live show that we recorded at the beginning of the "X" tour is due to be released through Mascot Records / Music Theories Recordings on February 13.
It's being offered two ways, either as a regular edition containing two audio CDs, or a Special Edition with the two audio CDs plus a DVD video of the concert. The DVD also has some great special features such as a previously unreleased "nameless" version of Their Names Escape Me, a photo slide show, plus some backstage and rehearsal footage.
Both versions will be available worldwide on February 13 through the usual retail outlets and download services. We will also be stocking it on our website.

Announcing – Spock’s Beard has a new recording and touring lineup!
To keep bringing you the finest Prog Rock, we’ve brought on board the amazing vocalist/guitarist Ted Leonard (Enchant, Thought Chamber) and Jimmy Keegan (Santana, John Waite), who’s been our tour drummer for close to 10 years now. If you know these guys, you know they’re world class. They bring exciting new energy and creativity to the party.
We regret that Nick D’Virgilio, a founding member of the band, good friend and incredible talent is unable to continue with us due to his other commitments. Please continue to support him, check out his new solo CD “Pieces,” go see him with Cirque du Soleil and follow whatever other madness he's up to. He’s awesome. We wish him the best of luck and the success he deserves. We wouldn’t be here without NDV!
Look for a new live Spock’s Beard DVD and extensive European tour in early 2012, followed by our 11th studio release sometime in the summer. We’re energized and excited, and will be posting updates and sound samples as we progress.

World Class singer/guitarist Ted Leonard (Enchant, Thought Chamber) will be filling in for Nick at both Sweden Rock on June 11 and the High Voltage Festival in London on July 24.
Ted's a great guy and an amazing talent, we know he will do a fantastic job with our songs. This promises to be a great opportunity to introduce Spock's Beard to lots of people who may not be familiar with us. We guarantee performances that will uphold the high standards you know us for.
